Collection: SABLE ISLAND

One hundred and 80 miles off the coast of Nova Scotia on a bright sunny day you will discover the "Ile De Sable"..literally translated.. "Island of Sand". 

As you fly over the sparkling ocean, all is calm. An hour passes and you see a small sand bar and then another and then Sable Island is in view.

Sable is a cresent shaped island with rolling dunes that are shaped by winds and the ocean. Marram grass cover the dunes in a blanket of rich green. The breeze blows the seagrass back and forth in a hypnotic wave. 

 GreySeals dapple the shores from the eastern end of the island to the west end. Rolling and tumbling in the waves and bobbing in the surf and sunning themselves on the sand.

This is also an island where you will find wild horses. They roam free, galloping knee high in the grasses towards fresh water ponds where you can find herds socializing and relaxing by the waters edge. You may see a lone stallion standing high on the dunes, surveying his land as his mare and a new born colt nap together in the grasses below.

 Hoof pints cover the beach in all directions. Off in the distance you can see a small herd enjoying the solitude of the beach as the wind dances through their thick manes and their tails flap in the wind like loose sails.

My footprints trace the wild hoof prints in the sand and I walk where the horses walk.  My prints will slowly be washed away by the ocean but the hoof prints will remain forever on the Island of Sand.

The magic of the island is undeniable and unforgettable.
